When you hit a certain age, you either become a more reserved person or you become more like me. I was a painfully shy child which carried into my 20s and 30s. People used to talk for me so I didn't have to worry about confrontation. If I mentioned today that I was a quiet person, they laugh. "You, never, stop kidding me," is the comment I get often.
It's a learning process. If you want something, need something, you have to go after "it." "It" will never find you. I broke out of my shell using my sense of humor and (to some annoyance to others) my persistence. It's very freeing emotionally and physically.
One of my favorite lines that I use often: "Beware if you ask a question, I will give you the true answer."
