Tis' the Season

I don't mean any disrespect to any religion but this is how I see Christmas.  I know I'm not supposed to talk about religion, politics or who's coming for dinner.

Did I miss something?  If I was an outsider looking in (which I am) and discribed Christmas.  It would appear to be a shopping holiday and not a religious holiday.

I worked at least 10 years as a retail manager.  I see Christmas in a different light.  For some people, this brings out the worst in them.  They fight for a parking space closer to the door, they are impatient waiting in long lines for the perfect gift, and they will get upset at a drop of a hat.  I'm grateful I'm not in retail anymore.  I don't think I could hold back my tongue for some of the comments I heard back then.

What is the true meaning of Christmas?  Even though it is not my religion, I'm sure it is not the gifts that actually matter.  I'm sure its about family, love, and the true beliefs of Christmas.

Besides, don't the children usually end up playing with the boxes the gifts come in?
